British Standards Institute

BSI is the UK’s national standards body, helping organisations in 182 countries embed excellence into the way people and products work.

Since 2016 I’ve worked with BSI through FUGU PR to design a series of international reports based on existing branding guidelines.

BSI requested that the branding for the most recent reports be further developed and extended, and I worked with the client to establish a consistent illustration style and new cover design template. All elements needed to be clear, concise and sympathetic to the message of each brochure.

Each report references key economic trends and technologies, relevant to the region or industry in question. I provided layout, illustrated infographics, iconography and image research and aquisition in print and digital versions, as well as reusable assets for future projects.

Anthony’s done a great job for us on a number of different client projects over the past few years. His simple, modern approach to presenting complex analytics to a broad audience attracted him as a design partner for Fugu.

We’ve valued his open and honest approach and his reliability and flexibility – either from our brief or directly with the client.

An illustrative infographic for the BSI Sustainability Report, showing how an interconnected city improves sustainability.

A first draft infographic for the BSI Modern Corporate Governance Report followed by the significantly altered final version. The information is the same, but the client preferred the added impact of the isometric version. My previous infographic work was varied enough to allow a change of direction whilst remaining consistent with established branding guidelines.

Illustrations for the recent BSI Electro-technical reports on High Performance and Optimizing Efficiency. The isometric style has become a favourite for the client, particularly when presenting complex, specialised subject matter.

Similar infomation can be presented in radically different ways. Infographic illustrations for the BSI Digital Reports (top), and the infographic for the BSI Cybersecurity Report (bottom) show how a well-designed set of icons can be easily re-purposed, enabling the delivery of interesting and varied content.

A technical illustrative infographic for the BSI Aerospace Report. I referenced photographs of a Boeing 737 which were traced in Adobe Illustrator and adapted to fit the BSI colour scheme and branding.

As BSI's first infographic commission, the Standards in Numbers illustration served as a starting point stylistically, containing many more colours than later work. The bar chart layout detailing the history of the organization was designed to be visually appealing, recognisable and repurposable, with variations featuring in several reports.

It’s always a pleasure to work with Anthony. He really understands how to deliver within budget and to the required timescales.

Anthony’s experience and practical attitude has been invaluable when solving design challenges to keep projects moving.
